Mrs. P Celebrates March Reading Events With Skype
March is filled with wonderful ways to spring into action with reading. Read Across America, an annual event established by the National Education Association (NEA) to honor children’s author Dr. Seuss and also World Read Aloud Day. World Read Aloud Day is part of LitWorld's global reading movement of making a difference in the lives of others through books, sharing, and reading.
To celebrate Read Across America Mrs. P read in person at two schools in Los Angeles. And for World Read Aloud Day she Skyped with 5 classrooms. Two of these classrooms included the grand prize winners from the annual Be-a-Famous Writer contest. Vermont, Virginia, Iowa & Texas, will be connected via Skype to celebrate reading.
Tools like Skype allow students in even the most rural areas to connect with other students, educators, or interesting people from around the world, creating myriad educational opportunities. On March 6th Mrs. P was able to connect with over 1500 students using the technology.
